Mercy Endures

One Sunday Evening my husband and I had the privilege to attend my Sister in law’s church and the Pastor was preaching from Psalms 107 and the title of his sermon was “Oh that men would Praise Him.”

The very 1st verse stuck with me. Psalms 107:1

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Let’s take a look at this verse.

We are to give thanks to God at all times for He is good. God is so good. We are to be thankful in the Good times and the bad as well because he is God and he is good.

This is the part that I like. What does Mercy mean? Mercy means to have a Compassion Treatment.  When I think of Endures, I believe of keeping going, lasting, being patient, being persistent, staying the course.

Let’s take that verse and word it different ways.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. For his Compassion keeps going forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For his Compassion is patient forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For his Compassion lasts forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For his Compassion is persistent forever.

Think about that today. What a great God that does not give up on his Children and that his Compassion keeps going, is patient, persistent, lasts forever.

Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus we thank you that your mercy lasts forever and that you have not given up on us. We stumble and fall but your great compassion that you have is so patient, and you pick us up when we fall. We thank you!

Knowing Who You Are In Christ

take-the-time-to-know-god1

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Just take a walk with me in my shoes for a few moments. Think about what it would have been like if you found out you were conceived in rape. How would it make you feel? I don’t think you would have positive feelings at the moment. I sure didn’t. I remember the silence on the phone when my caseworker told me. I remember my caseworker asking me if I was ok. I remember the numb feeling. I remember telling myself ok how do you deal with this? I remember praying hard so that I would not become bitter or angry. I had to pray that for several days. Since I never really told anyone about my beginnings I just put those feelings way in the back of my mind. Since I have started to share the story last August I have had to deal with some emotions. I have seen people who say they are Pro-Life be very nasty towards those of us who are conceived in rape/incest. It hurts when you stand for life and Organizations like the National Right to Life block you from you taking a stand for your people. When people do things like that they are saying your life is not worth anything.
Your situation can be a lot different than mine, and you may feel guilty, you may feel worthless, you may feel unloved.  I have some good news for you; we don’t have to take that negative thinking or live in fear.
Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Bible does not exempt Christians from going through anything. I can tell you people who are anointed of God go through so much because of the anointing.

Knowing who you are in Christ
We can change our thinking when all of hell is coming against us. We can stand up and say God has given me the Spirit of Adoption and because he adopted us we can call him Daddy, Father. He is the one that makes us new. When you became/become a Christian, we became/become a new creature. When you know that Jesus Christ (God manifested in flesh) died on the cross for your sins and loved you so much that he did it for you, you can know that old things are passed away and he has made all things new.
When you know who you are in Christ, there is nothing that can get in the way of you knowing how much he loves you, how much he wants to spend time with you. You will know that you are his son or his daughter. You know that he will never leave you or forsake you. You will know so much about your heavenly father. To God, we are more valuable than the sparrow.

The Oil Of Joy

JoyoftheLord

Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Looking up in Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary The Word Joy it has a few meanings

A feeling of great happiness: a source or cause of great happiness: something or someone that gives joy to someone: success in doing, finding, or getting something

You are probably wondering where I am going with this. We will get there. The other day I posted on my blog about Breaking the Alabaster Box. Someone emailed me and said I want to Challenge you to do a post on Joy. Since the Alabaster Box has got to be my favorite story in the Bible, I am going to focus on the box as if it had Joy in it.

We live in a world today where wrong is now right and right is now wrong. Standing up for moral values, Standing up for Life, Standing up for Marriage between a Man and Woman. Standing up for these things can get us so discouraged because the world is so negative about these issues that our heads just spin and our minds feel like they are going to explode because every time we take a stand for what is right we get it head-on with the negative. It may not be anyone we know, but society does a good job with telling all negative junk. We never hear anything positive on the news anymore.

Let us think about this Woman with the Alabaster Box. What if all those negative people where the problems that we have in Society today.

What would she be like with all that negative junk around her? Who knows but I would be frustrated to the max, and I would be thinking is anything going to change or am I even making a difference.

She looks at her box again the box looks too beautiful to open, but her mind is frazzled. She takes a moment and starts to break the box, and she is pouring out the Oil on her Savior. He is reaching to her and giving her the Joy that she needs. What is happening instead of all the frustration and feeling frazzled she is reminded of some scriptures in the Bible.

1st one is Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

She realizes that pouring the Oil she is gaining New Strength. New Strength to renew her mind.

2nd Verse that comes to her mind is 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. New Strength to be able to cast her cares up the Lord because he cares for her.

As we see because she is pouring the Oil out she is gaining Joy in return. She has gained strength to renew her mind and to cast her cares on the Lord and

3rd Verse is a reassurance verse that is 1 Chronicles 16:27 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place. ( A Reminder that Jesus Christ sees what she is doing by taking a stand for the things that are right.)

The 4th Verse is Psalms 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Let’s take a look as to what has happened since she opened her box of Joy. Her mind is Renewed, She is casting all her cares upon the Lord, She knows that God sees her, and know she knows that staying on the right path she finds Joy in the Presence of God.

5th Verse is Psalms 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

So many scriptures about Joy went through her mind that by the time she came to the last verse she has so much Joy in her heart. The last verse that came to her is 1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Joy

The Moral of the story remember to Keep Your Oil of Joy bottle filled.  We maintain the Oil of Joy by Renewing our Mind, Casting our cares on the Lord, Remembering that when we think we are not making a difference that Jesus Christ sees what we are doing. We also keep the Oil of Joy bottle filled by staying on the right path. When we are on the right Path and doing the right things we find Joy in the Presence of the Lord.

Breaking The Alabaster Box

alabaster_box_lg

Luke 7:37-48 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.  (The ointment that she used was roughly a year’s wages and in today’s world it could probably cost around 10,000)

39Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

44And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

45Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

46My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

Matthew 26:6,7,12-13

6Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

7There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

12For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

13Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

As we look at these two passages of scripture we see a woman who has an alabaster box with ointment (that could have been roughly around 12 oz of ointment)

When we look at Matthew 26:7 we see where it was poured on his head. In Luke, we see she stood behind him weeping and began to wash his feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair and kissed his feet and anointed them with ointment.

Could it be possible that this was the same woman in Matthew and Luke? I think so. In Matthew, she poured it on his head, and I believe she was broken and began to weep and cry so much that she wiped his feet with her hair and kissed his feet and anointed them with ointment.

When she did this people got upset with her. The people became so upset because the ointment was not a cheap ointment and she also broke a custom law she let her hair down to wipe his feet. Plus they could tell that the ointment was expensive because of the aroma that filled the room. She went beyond the extraordinary and broke the box to use the ointment.

So many people are called upon to do something, but because of their unbroken state God won’t use them until they are willing to become broken and step out of their comfort zone and go beyond the extraordinary.

We need to go beyond the extraordinary and break the box. When we go beyond the unusual, we will see things happen. People will get upset with us when we do the extraordinary and break the box and pour the oil out but we must remain sensitive to the voice of God in our lives and not let the distractions of life get in the way of what God wants to do when we step out and break the box and do the extraordinary.

Breaking the box is very humbling, and it helps to stay sensitive to God and helps us to stay close to the Lord.

Once the box is broken, and the ointment is being poured out we will see a move of God in our lives and God will then begin changing us and use us for his Kingdom. Our ointment to God is also giving ourselves to him. Our Praise & Worship to him is the aroma that fills the room, and he created us to Praise and Worship him.

Living for God is beautiful, Precious, extraordinary. He gives us Peace, Joy, Rest for our souls.

I want to share a quote with you from Joy Haney’s book “Breaking the Alabaster Box.”

“Mary could not break the box until first she herself was broken. Because of her intense broken heart she did things that in normal situations she would not have done. It was the breaking in her that changed her way of thinking and her way of doing things. She did something that she had never done before. It shocked those who were in the room with her. There were murmurings and accusations against her; it was a moment in history. No one knew how to deal with this astonishing occasion. Even Jesus sensed the impact of the moment so much that He said,” Wherever this gospel is preached in the world, the story of this woman’s breaking will be told as a memorial to her.”

She went beyond the ordinary. She forged ahead into new territories all because her heart was broken and because of her intense love and reverence for Jesus. Her breaking caused her to do something unusual; it broke all traditions. (Joy Haney-Breaking the Alabaster Box)

How Precious is your ointment? Are you going to leave the ointment in the Alabaster box sitting on a shelf because the box looks nice and the ointment in the box because it is so expensive or are you going to break the box and pour everything out on him and let him use you in the way he wants too. Before God can do, something extraordinary something must be broken.

I want my Alabaster box to be broken which is my life so that God can use me in the way he wants to. I want to be a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God, which is our reasonable service.

A Step Of Faith

Faith

While on our journey through life, There are people that are bold and outgoing, and there are people that are quiet and don’t want to be out front.  I have always been the type of person that would rather be behind the scenes instead of out front. The Ultimate decision a person can make is when they decide that Living for God is the best thing.

When I found out about my conception, I never told anyone except my parents and my husband and few close friends. The church where we are at now I was only going to share it with my Pastor and his Wife that is what My plan was. Well God had a different plan because the very next Sunday sitting in the morning service God spoke to me very profoundly and told me to tell the story and to share it. Talk about questioning God and saying God that is coming out of the comfort zone.

Little by little I have been sharing the story, and God has been doing amazing things through it. Recently by the Step of Faith I ordered some name badges. I really don’t know what God is going to do, but he is up to something and I have to be submissive to his will. My husband, My Parents, and My Pastor all believe the ministry that God is giving to me is just going to get that much greater.

Knowing that it was God, that spoke to me that Sunday Morning sitting in Church. I am not overwhelmed, and I am at peace. God is the one who gets all the glory.

God Is No Respecter Of Persons

God has no Favorites

Acts 10:34 (KJV) Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

Looking up the word Respecter on Dictionary.com they gave the definition of what no respecter of persons means. The meaning is a person whose attitude and behaviour is uninfluenced by consideration of another’s rank, power, wealth, etc

To God, there is no one who is greater than the other. He has though given each of us different talents, different testimonies and so on. We all have come from different walks of life.

When I got my non-Id information regarding my adoption. When I read that I was born out of wedlock I felt my heart go to the pit of my stomach, I felt sick, and I felt like it was unfair.

The reasoning for that is because I grew up in a home where we were taught that you wait until your married. It also never entered my mind that I was born out of wedlock until I read the records. I had this thinking that the reason I was placed for adoption was because two people just could not take care of me. Also, a lot of my friends were born from a marriage relationship.

Not that long ago I remember overhearing a conversation, and someone said they believed that God would not use someone who was born out of wedlock as greatly then someone who was born into a family with two parents.

When I heard that I was not happy, and I kept my opinion to myself. I had thought about what they said. What they said is wrong. God is no respecter of persons. He does not look at those born out of wedlock any different than those born into a marriage relationship.

God will use whoever is willing to be used by him. No one is greater than another in the Kingdom of God.

The Value Of Life

One of the definitions of Value in Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary means relative worth, utility or importance.

It was in August of last year that I heard on James Dobson’s Family Talk Radio a 3 part series titled “Conceived in Rape.”

Not long after that my husband wrote on the “Value of One.” I want to take that a little further and talk about the “Value of Life.”

Ever since the beginning when Adam and Eve sinned we have lived in a fallen world. Every one of us when we are born we are born into a world of sin. Babies are innocent, and they don’t know any better. When a person reaches the age of accountability which I believe is around the age of 11 or 12. Why do I think that? When Mary and Joseph had to go back and find Jesus, they found him in the temple. He told them I must be about my Father’s business. I believe that it was around that time that Jesus knew he was God manifested in the flesh.  We don’t hear much more about Jesus from that time until he was Thirty. He grew up in Wisdom and Stature.

Life is the time a person is given from conception to natural death.  Everyone that has been born or will be born they are important.  God chose mankind to have fellowship with. He has given to us a choice.  It is our choice if we want to have fellowship with him or not. The choice is up to us.

On a tombstone, you will see a dash in the middle. The dash is the life that the person lived.  It is very imperative that we realize the importance of life.  Life must be valued at all cost.

Life is what are people going to say about you when you are gone.  Are people going to see you as an inspiration and an encourager or someone who is selfish and just thinks about themselves?

It is my choice to have fellowship with God. It is my choice to take a stand for life. It is my job to put my faith and trust in God and know that his purpose in creating my life will be fulfilled in my life.

It is sad that we live in a world where life is not valued. Living in the world that we do there are many people who don’t see the importance of life.  Unborn babies being slaughtered by the minute or even seconds through the horrible act of abortion.

Growing up I thought I would never even hear about same-sex marriages. Seeing this being a battle in the court is sickening.  When a man and a woman get married they value each other, they see the importance in each other, they see each others worth.

There are times in the Christian life that we deal with feelings of feeling unworthy or worthless. When we are in fellowship with Jesus and realize that it was his death, burial and resurrection that we are made worthy.  It is through Jesus Christ that we really can see the value of life.

I Have Come To The Kingdom For Such A Time A This

such-a-time-as-this

Waking up early this morning I was thinking about the last two or three weeks and twice at church I have heard parts of the story of Esther two times. The Book of Esther is one of my favorite books in the Bible.

A couple of years ago on a Monday Morning something had happened, and I could have gotten mad and upset, but instead I asked God what did he want me to do. He said I don’t want you to do anything I want you to pray. So I went into prayer and that Monday night my husband and I talked about the Sunday service. As we talked about it the atmosphere in our home changed. We had sensed an urgency about an individual and their family. So for two nights my husband and I prayed. On Tuesday night, my husband started to feel at peace about whatever was going on. I though being the intercessor that I am God gave to me a strong burden for this person. That whole week I could not eat or hardly even drink I was in very intense prayer. On Saturday Morning at the Intercessory prayer meeting at the church we prayed and the person was there. At the end of the prayer service, we asked for this person and his family to come up for prayer. We prayed with them. The next day my husband and I were at the church early and I was down in one of the Sunday School rooms and the person came to me and gave to me the whole smorgasbord as to what was going on. I was amazed as to what God had done. Although I will say I felt inadequate and what God told me was “Don’t feel inadequate or unworthy, but feel honored because I have chosen you for such a time as this.”

As I think about the prophetic word that I was given at the age of 17 and last August God spoke to me at church at the beginning of the ministers sermon, that I need to share my story and tell it. I thought that God wanted me just to share it with my local church family. I did that, but God has had other plans. After I shared my story with my church family, one of the Pastors sons came to me and said we need to redo your testimony, and I said can we video tape it. He said sure. We did, and we had to do it a couple of times.

In February of this year, I decided to start this blog, and I  am thankful for the people who follow me on my blog.  With my blog, Facebook, and other websites my story has been seen all over the world.  God is not finished though. Very soon the story is going to be translated into Spanish. I never dreamed that it would happen. God is truly doing amazing things. There are other things that are going on, and it is going to take its time for it to come to fulfillment.  I have had several people tell me that the time for God to use me is now. I know it because I can feel it burning inside of me. It is in the plan of God that I am being used for such a time as this.

The Rise Up of Esther

such-a-time-as-this

Thinking about the story of Esther over the last few days. When Esther found out that her people were targeted to death, she took a stand. She had Mordecai tell the people to fast and pray for three days along with her and then she would go to the king and make her petition. In that day going to the king, without permission had a death sentence to it. She took a stand and stood alone. She went before the king by herself and made her petition.

Let’s take this story and apply it to those most targeted today. Yes, we live in a world where Christians are targeted and moral values are looked down upon. The life of the unborn is targeted every day.

Let me take you back to 1966 when Mississippi was the first state to legalize abortion only in cases of rape/incest. Girls/Women who get pregnant because of rape and the children of rape are still targets today. It breaks my heart when people can’t see the that the precious baby who is conceived in rape actually saved their mother from being raped more.

When I first started to share my story, I shared it with Rebecca Kiessling who is the founder of Savethe1.com, and I shared it with Juda Myers who is the founder of Choices4Life.org. Both Rebecca Kiessling and Juda Myers were conceived in rape and saved from an illegal abortion. They had the law to protect them. These two precious ladies have hearts of compassion and love. They educate others and help women and their children. These women need to be applaud not criticized.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have seen how cruel society is towards those conceived in rape and their mothers. There is so much hatred. Society thinks that abortion must be the only option for the rape conceived. While I have seen so much hate over the last few days, I have also seen more women who have conceived in rape take a stand and defend us.

While there is, so much hate and babies conceived in rape are targeted. There are women and children who are the Esther’s in today’s world who are rising up and standing up and having their voices be heard so that All life is protected.

If God can use one Lady, who’s name was Esther to save a Nation. Just think about what he can do with those who have been targeted since 1966 to bring an end to abortion.

The sacredness of life

life_is_sacred_std_t-copyLife is sacred. God chose mankind to have fellowship with him.  We were created by God to worship him, and he wants to use us for his kingdom. Life is sacred it must be highly valued and important.  We live in a world where animals have more protection than humans. The life of the unborn is being taken for granted these days.

Yesterday, we celebrated Memorial Day here in the United States of America. A day to remember those who served our country and are serving our country. I can imagine when people sign up to be in the military whether it is the Army, Navy, Armed Forces, National Guard, Air Force they take it sacred. It is something that they are devoted to. They see the sacredness of serving their country. They have great respect for the military. They take their job very seriously.
Yesterday, I read an article where my friend, Rebecca Kiessling, who also was conceived in rape, had to tell someone why her life was worth living.  People who are conceived because of rape should not have to tell why their lives are worth living. Life should be highly valued, respected no matter the circumstances of conception.
I am thankful that I have a God, who’s name, is Jesus Christ he knew me even before I was conceived. He saw how valuable and important my life is that he died on the cross and rose again so that I can be saved. He died for us so that we can live for him. We must respect and see life as being highly valued, important and worship the one who created and saw the sacredness of life before we were even born.
