Created In The Secret Place

Psalms 139:13-16 says, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

As we approach Christmas I tend to think about Mary what she thought when she saw the face of her newborn baby the first time, what she thought when she kissed the face of God, what she thought about that wrapped up in a baby boy she was holding the Creator of the word, the savior of the world, and the Great I am. Mary held in her arms God Manifested in the flesh, who created her in secret.

Since the Value of Life is so much more precious to me after finding out that I was conceived from rape, and saved from an illegal abortion at a planned parenthood clinic, and placed for adoption. This year for Christmas I decided to take The Rise Up In The Truth Series, by EduceLife and I have learned so much. In the very first lesson, something that I never knew has had me thinking about the secret place over the last few days. While going through the first lesson, I found out that the word Womb in the Hebrew language is translated to “Mercy Seat.” Finding out that the word Womb is translated to Mercy Seat I started to think about a Mother Hen. When there is a storm, the Mother Hen will gather her chicks and find a place a shelter and the baby chicks hid under wings, and to the human eye, we can’t see the baby chicks because they are in a secret place under the protection of the Mother Hen.

As I continued to think more about this, I thought about the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant was. In the Old Testament, only the High Priest could enter into the Holy of Holies where in secret was the Mercy Seat. The Mercy Seat was on top of the Ark of the Covenant.

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ we must remember that He was born to die, and when he died the veil in the temple was torn in two and we now can go into the Holy Place where we can get into the Secret Place with God where we can get in touch with God on an intimate and personal level.

The more I thought this, the more I understand it that the Mercy Seat is in a secret place, and it is also a place of protection. Sadly in the world that we live in today, the womb is no longer a secret place, and it is no longer a place of security.

As we come to Christmas, let us Celebrate the baby who was created in the secret place so that we can go running back to the Mercy Seat the secret place where we can get alone with God and also be with the one who protects us.

Walk Toward The Baby And Away From Fear

The title of this blog came from something my birthmother said.

Can you imagine what Mary must have felt that day that the Angel appeared to her and told her that she would have a baby, and his name would be Jesus? I can imagine she was afraid. I know she was scared, she said how can this be I know not a man.

As I think about this, I think of all the women who were raped and conceived a baby. For Mary, it was a joyous occasion, but for these women it was not. When a woman becomes pregnant through rape she is afraid, she feels worthless, she was violated against, she has negative feelings about herself. When you meet her or are friends with her, please don’t tell her that the first thing she should do is have an abortion. Let her know that she is loved and that Jesus loves her, and She is made worthy through Jesus Christ. Show her Grace and Mercy. Don’t be judgemental.

Help her in any way that you can and help her see that the baby that is growing inside of her has a purpose, and the baby will help her heal. Pray with her and help her to walk towards the coming of that baby and help her to walk away from fear.

My birthmother was raped, and she stayed at a home for unwed mothers, and the people there showed her the Grace and Mercy of God. They helped her any way that they could, and they walked with her towards the birth of her baby and helped her walk away from fear.

As Mary walked away from fear towards the birth of her baby, imagine the people that talked about her, the people that turned their back on her. The day finally came where Joseph and Mary had to talk the long walk to Bethlehem.  Imagine the uncomfortable ride on the donkey to get to Bethlehem where our Saviour Jesus Christ the Messiah was born.

Mercy Endures

One Sunday Evening my husband and I had the privilege to attend my Sister in law’s church and the Pastor was preaching from Psalms 107 and the title of his sermon was “Oh that men would Praise Him.”

The very 1st verse stuck with me. Psalms 107:1

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Let’s take a look at this verse.

We are to give thanks to God at all times for He is good. God is so good. We are to be thankful in the Good times and the bad as well because he is God and he is good.

This is the part that I like. What does Mercy mean? Mercy means to have a Compassion Treatment.  When I think of Endures, I believe of keeping going, lasting, being patient, being persistent, staying the course.

Let’s take that verse and word it different ways.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. For his Compassion keeps going forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For his Compassion is patient forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For his Compassion lasts forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For his Compassion is persistent forever.

Think about that today. What a great God that does not give up on his Children and that his Compassion keeps going, is patient, persistent, lasts forever.

Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus we thank you that your mercy lasts forever and that you have not given up on us. We stumble and fall but your great compassion that you have is so patient, and you pick us up when we fall. We thank you!
