Making The Best Of The Storm

Storm1

Over the last few days, I have been thinking a lot about storms. Storms are scary and cause us to become afraid. I know when I go through storms in life fear rises, and I am afraid.

Ever since the hurricane hit Texas, I have watched a couple of videos of people worshiping and praising God through that storm. I have watched Texans come together and help each other. I have seen people from other states come and help other’s out. The Cajun Navy from Louisiana come with their boats and rescue people from their homes. Since I am a visual learner seeing this that has actually shown me that when I am going through my storms I can worship God in the middle of the storm and I know there are people that will be there to help me through the storm, but most importantly is to remember that God is right in the middle of the storm, and while worshiping him and giving thanks in the midst of the storm I must reach out for his help in the midst of the storm. He is truly the one that can help us in our storms of life.

While I have been thinking about storms and all the troubles that are going on in the world today, I think of a song that I heard many years ago by Lanny Wolfe titled,

Peace in Jesus in a troubled world today.

Their little boat was tossed about upon the stormy seas The disciples woke the Master crying “Lord, save us please!” Then Jesus spoke with authority and commanded: “Peace be still!” And instantly every wind and wave obeyed the Master’s will

There is peace in Jesus in a troubled world today There is peace in Jesus, and the world can’t take it away Though there’s trouble all around I’m so glad I have found
There is peace in Jesus in a troubled world today

So many times I’m tossed about upon life’s stormy seas, And though the winds of trouble blow, my Savior pilots me For I know Peace be Still guides my little boat, I’ll not fear the wind or wave, For he who’s kept me safe thus far will keep me all the way

My prayer is that no matter what we go through instead of fear taking control of our lives, we pray to find the Peace of Jesus after all he controls the winds and the waves in Life. So to make the best of the storm is to allow God to control the storm.

The Pain In Mother’s Day

Held by Natalie Grant

To all those people who deal with the pain of Mother’s day remember Jesus is holding you in his arms and he has held you since the day you were born. Jesus understands.

As I sit here this morning trying to find the words to begin this is difficult. I dread Mother’s Day. I will be honest I hate it. I don’t like it. One day on the Calendar I wish I could just bypass. Don’t get me wrong I am thankful for both of my mother’s. My birth mother and my adoptive mother.

The pain in mother’s day for me is never being able to have children.  After several years of trying to have a child we decided to see the infertility specialist. I wasn’t even at the infertility specialist for a full week and then I got the call from the doctor saying I am sorry but I can’t help you. He proceeded to tell me that if I had become pregnant it would have killed me. I was devastated. I could not look at a pregnant woman of even a newborn baby for a year. It was heartbreaking.

I am fine with not having any children, but when mother’s day comes the pain hits hard. It is brutal. I just want that day to hurry up and get over with. I deal with many difficult emotions that day and I stay home from church that day. I am not one that can hide my emotions very well so I don’t go. I want to cry when everyone is saying Happy Mother’s Day. I want to run from it. I have a hard time going to church and seeing all the Mother’s get something and then to have drawings on top of that. It makes me want to just burst out in tears and it makes me sick to see all that go on. I would think that the church in general would be more understanding towards those that are hurting on mother’s day and just get a gift for every woman in the church and leave it at that.  I will say that I am thankful to be in a church where my Pastor understands why I don’t attend church on Mother’s day. It is too painful of a day.

For those that are mother’s I hope I didn’t upset you and I hope that you do have a wonderful mother’s day, but if you know a woman who is going to have a hard time that day let her know that you are thinking about her, praying for her, if you see her sad give her a hug, or get her a card that says I am thinking of you. Little things like this go a long ways.

Who Can Really Love The Reject

Orphans of God by Avalon

Who can really love the reject?

This afternoon I spent more time reading the book The Primal Wound: Understanding the Adopted Child”, by Nancy Verrier. While reading it the statement who can really love the reject was mentioned and it got my mind going in many different directions.

We have a problem in the world of adoption. The voices of the Birth mothers are heard, the voices of the adoptive parents are heard, but the voices of the adoptee tend to go by the wayside. Should their voices be heard as well? I think so. Because of the separation that takes place from the first mother adoptee’s deal with issues of rejection. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t deal with issues of rejection. I deal with issues of rejection. When things happen to relationships in my world that are hard for me to deal with I look at it as abandonment or rejection and people have to reassure me that they will always be there for me. Not that long ago I had to talk with my Pastor about some things and he told me, Sherry, you’re the one with the voice crying in the wilderness. That made me think.

I am adopted and I was also conceived from rape. Back when I was adopted so much information in the adoption records were fabricated because who really would want to adopt the rapist baby? I mean really who would want to raise the baby who would turn out to be like the rapist. I have news for people in society who think that babies conceived in rape turn out to be like the rapist you are so very wrong. I have yet to understand as to why when a woman is raped and conceives why all of a sudden she is treated like trash and she and her pre-born baby are looked at as rejects. What is wrong with people who automatically say she should have an abortion after rape. Having an abortion after rape only adds to the trauma that she is already going through. Instead of treating the woman and her baby like rejects why not love them and their pre-born baby.

I am thankful to live in a country where I have my freedoms, but those freedoms could be taken away so fast. It breaks my heart that we have many veterans who are homeless and they get treated like rejects as well. Why can’t we find it in our hearts take care of our veterans who fought for our freedoms? We live in a world where rejection is a big problem.

If we took the time to care about the reject this world would be a better place. Take time to love an adoptee who deals with issues of rejection, take time to love a woman who was raped and love her preborn baby don’t reject them, take time to love the homeless person on the street, take time to love the children who are in foster care, and the list of people who deal with rejection goes on.

Let’s look at Jesus. Jesus rejected no one, but yet he was rejected. Isaiah 53:3 says He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

If no one finds it in their heart to really care about the reject I know someone who really cares about the reject and his name is Jesus. Psalms 27:10 says When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

The Devil Tried To Destroy Me, But God Meant It For Good

There is so much on my mind tonight so please bear with me as I get through this. This is one of the most difficult blogs that I will probably write. When I found out that I was conceived from rape at the time that I found out finding out that I was born out of wedlock was much harder because I was raised to save myself for my future husband. When I read the words born out of wedlock my heart sank to my stomach I was sick.

I have been reading about things that the unborn baby goes through when the mother is going through things, such as stress, anxiety, depression, and other things. The unborn baby senses that. Reading about it has stirred up some very difficult emotions that I have not dealt with until now. The emotions that I am just now dealing are those that come when I first heard the words conceived from rape. I have been torn up for some time about it to where I am sick. The last few weeks I have had things happen. Some crazy person who read one of my blogs left me a note saying kill me, and I had someone report me on Facebook, and most recently while sharing my story someone cussed my birth mother out and I let them have it. I am so torn up by all of this that I can’t even cry. Whenever I hear the word rapist I will start shaking and I get sick.

Going through this is hard because I have the devil telling me that I am the rapist baby, the daughter of a rapist and I know those are nothing but lies right from the pit of hell. I know in my heart that I am not the rapist baby. God created me for a purpose. I am not the daughter of a rapist, but I am a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

My birth mother does not like to be called a hero, but she is. She had an aunt that could have arranged for her to abort me at a planned parenthood clinic, but rather she fought for the life of her baby. She fought for my life.  She did what she could do and she placed me for adoption. When she placed me for adoption her one request was that I be placed in a strong Christian home. God granted her request. Don’t get me wrong I am blessed to have been adopted, but many adoptee’s deal with issues that people who are born into the family do not understand and dealing with those issues can last a lifetime.

While the devil meant evil against me, God meant it for good and I am volunteering at a Crisis Pregnancy Center training to help women in a crisis. When we help the woman we will save the baby.

God Creator Of Light And Of Life

Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

When night time comes it gets dark outside, but when morning comes it is light outside. When God created the light, he also knew that he would be creating man in his image and knew that man would need light to see what we are doing. There are many scriptures in the Bible that refer to light. Jesus is God manifested in the flesh, and he is the light of the world. He came, and he died and rose again so that we can know him, but also see and know that he is working in our life every day.

Let’s take a moment to think about God creating man. Instead of speaking man into existence he got down into the dirt (dirt in a dark color and it is dirty) and created mankind in his image. The moment God breathed life into man, the man became a living soul.

Just recently scientists have discovered that at the time of conception there is a bright light that sparks. Does this surprise us?  It should not surprise us because The very same God that spoke light into existence and got down on his hands and knees to create man is the very same God that creates human life today.

While doing some research, I found something interesting that takes place when a woman conceives a child. An excerpt from the americanpregnancy.org  says that the pregnancy glow is one of the physiological changes many women look forward to while they are pregnant. The pregnancy glow is one of the skin changes that is caused by the changes and increase of hormones during pregnancy.

With the pregnancy glow that a woman goes through is just another proof that the very same God who spoke the light into existence and created man is still in the business of creating lives and changing lives. After all one of the definitions for light is the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.

God’s Witness Protection Program

Last Night listening to the Assistant Pastor preach on this titled I thought about some things. I went up to him after church, and I told him that while it did not work out, someone called me on Saturday Night and wanted me to go a different state on Monday and Testify. I look at it as an honor for this person to think of me and call me.

I have also been thinking about other things as well. Jesus Christ came to serve, and he went to places where people needed healing, needed deliverance, needing to hear his voice.

Since I have been sharing my rape conception story, I have come across many people, and we share our stories, and educate to change the hearts and minds of people.

I live in a very liberal state, and God has got me in a position to not only where I can share my story but meet people in the political world.  You ask me why am I getting involved with a state that supports exceptions in their pro-life bills? Well, I may be the only Jesus that these people will see, and they will see a difference through the way I act around them and through me sharing my story their hearts and minds will be changed. It is my prayer that one day the state that I live in will one day turn around and only support personhood. I don’t know about you, but I serve a God, who can do exceedingly, abundantly above what we ask or even think.

A New Year of New Beginnings

SunRise7777777

It is a brand new year. A whole new book of our lives will be written this year. Today is only January 5th, and I have had a lot happen in just the few short days that this year has had. While it is a New Year of New Beginnings, it is also a year of Purpose. God has given to me my purpose and that is to continue to share my rape conception story and to educate and also reach people to God through these things. On Sunday Night, my Pastor gave some really useful guidelines for 2016. While fulfilling my purpose and what God wants me to do, I am going to be asking these questions.

Can You Ask God To Bless It?  Can You Thank God For It?  Does It Give God Glory?  Is it of  The World?  Is It A Stumbling Block To Others?  Is It To Please God Or Man?  Do I Realize The Consequences?  Is It Expedient, Will It Edify?  Will His Indwelling Presence Permit It?  Would I Want To Be Doing This When Jesus Comes? Does It Promote Love?

As you begin this Year ask God what is his Purpose for your life is and then ask these questions. After all one day, every knee shall bow.

Rejected But Accepted

Rejected

Based on Mark 12:1-8

As we read these verses, we read about Jesus telling the story about the man who planted a vineyard. We see where the man sent out his servants to collect the harvest, but the farmers killed the servants. So the man then sent out his son thinking to himself they won’t kill my son. Well, the farmers did kill his son. Let us take our focus to the part of verse 10. It says, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.”

As I sit here this morning, I being an adopted child have struggled with being an adopted child and have felt rejection so many times. About seven years ago I met my Birth mother for the first time, but before she accepted to have contact with me during the waiting time for me, it seemed like forever. Finally, the day came when the case worker called and said my birth mother was ok with having contact with me.

Adopted children struggle with the feelings of rejection. A minister came to our church one time, and he sat and talked with me and said I struggle with two things, and one of those things was the feelings of rejection.

Jesus had to feel rejected by the way that people treated him, but because he was God manifested in the flesh he accepted and loved the people that rejected him.

We are human, and we all probably have felt the feelings of rejection, but we have to realize that Jesus won’t reject us. He loves us. When we come to him we become part of his family he adopted us. He gave us his name. It’s just like when I was born my birth mother gave me a name, but when I was adopted my parents changed my name. When we become part of the family of God not only does he give us his name but we begin to change because he changes us.

So when you feel like people have rejected you, remember that Jesus has accepted you, and he loves and he wants to change you.

In My Garden

gardens (5)

Good Morning!! While just going through a page on facebook this morning I saw this picture and immediately the song In the Garden started to go through my mind.  My mind kept going so here we go. I can picture a beautiful day perfect 70 degree weather. Hearing the sound of the ocean waves in the background and also seeing a garden just beautiful with roses, lilies, tulips, Ivy, Evergreens, lilacs.  Imagine walking through that and its cool and also the smell of recently cut grass and you just keep walking. You just get a sense that someone is walking beside you then you realize that no one is around but you still feel as someone is there. Who is it? It’s Jesus. He wants to walk with you in his Garden, he wants to share with you things that he knows about with you. He wants to tell you his plan that he has for you.  He wants to love you and give you a hug because he sees the tears that are streaming down your face as you continue to walk. He wants to wrap you in his arms. There is so much that he wants to share.  Jesus wants to spend time with you. So you continue to walk and a lot of things just are going through your mind and then you realize that it’s getting late and you have not had lunch so you try to hurry along but something inside you says take your time and smell the roses. So you stop and smell the roses.  While looking at the roses you see how delicate and soft the petals are on the rose and the sweet smell that the roses leave. While smelling the roses Jesus still waits for you because he wants to continue to spend time with you. Then you see a shaded spot under the Willow tree near the exit of the garden and you can see the ocean beautifully. So you go and just relax under the willow tree still thinking about a lot of things. And he sits down with you and you just start to open up and talk to him. He knows.  Spend time in his garden.

Jesus Our Redeemer and Savior

turn-to-God

I am so blessed to have been raised in the home that I was raised in. Being adopted gave me the opportunity to know Jesus Christ in a powerful way. Jesus Christ the Creator of the world is also God who is our Redeemer and Savior.  It was in the middle of a Chapel Service at School that I received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the age of 7.  The spirit of God filled my life and life more abundantly. Lets look at scripture where God is our Redeemer and Savior and Jesus Christ is our Redeemer and Savior.

God our Redeemer and Savior

Psalms 78:34-35 ” When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God. 35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.”

Isaiah 47:4 “ As for our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.”

Isaiah 44:6 “Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.”

Isaiah 43:3-11 ” For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears. Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. 10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.”

Isaiah 45:21 ” Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I theLord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.”

Isaiah 49:26 ” And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.”

Psalms 106:21 “They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;”

Luke 1:46-47 “And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.”

Jude-1-25-To-The-Only-Wise-God-Our-Saviour-yellow-copy

Jesus the Redeemer and Savior

I John 4:14 ” And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.”

I Peter 2:21-24 ” For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Acts 20:28 ” Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”

Galatians 3:13 ”  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”

Luke 24:21-29 ” But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. 22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. 25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. 29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.”

Luke 2:10-11 ” And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

John 4:40-42 ” So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. 41 And many more believed because of his own word; 42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.”

Philippians 3:20 ” For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:”

I Timothy 1:1-3 ” Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,”

I Timothy 4:10 ” For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”

Titus 1:1-4 ” Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour; To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

I Peter 1:10-11 ” Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.”

Jude 25 ” To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
